Last month my best friend, Lolly, of almost two decades came to Atlanta for a weekend visit. I was so happy to have her here and to be able to show her a part of my new life. For years and years we always lived close to each other and it was definitely weird not being around her all the time when I moved to Georgia.
La and I travel the same way; we do and see as much as we possibly can and have a blast doing it. So I took her on a wild tour of the greater Atlanta area -- from the city to the mountains and back! We packed in a LOT of stuff in just a few days! Are you ready to go on this adventure with us? Keep reading...
Friday night we went to some local bars, drank beer, played pool and caught up with each other. Saturday morning we made breakfast and ventured to the west side of midtown to drive by my office and do some shopping at the brand new Free People store and the White Provisions area.
We passed what was left of the Color Run on our way out of my neighborhood. The streets were covered in this colorful powder! La had to get out and take a few photos.
She was craving a fancy coffee with coffee art, so we stopped by Octane Coffee Bar (one of my favorite coffee places in Atlanta). We ordered Carmelattos and sat outside in the sunshine chatting about life.
Then for a late lunch we went to Pie Shop! I was especially excited about this trip because of all the things I've heard about Pie Shop. They were out of all the savory pies except for the daily quiche, which was the cheesy spinach deliciousness you see below.
For dinner we went to Yeah Burger and grubbed down on some yummy organic burgers. Probably my favorite burger place in all of Atlanta! I had to show her the best of the best.
That night we met up with some of my local besties at the Righteous Room. It was my first time at this tiny bar, but I really enjoyed myself despite the smokey air and vampires.
After that we went to Taco Mac in VaHi to eat something before heading home. We ordered a few too many plates of their Loaded Sweet Potato Fries...and 5 of us devoured them in minutes!! They may not look that amazing, but we sure thought they tasted that way at 1am.
On Sunday morning we woke up early for our Retreat day @ the Winery! Check out my recent blog on our adventure in Georgia's wine country: http://www.foodieinmotion.com/2012/04/retreat-day-montaluce-winery.html
Once home from our amazing day in the mountains, we were starving and decided to go to Little Five Points. Graffiti art is everywhere down there!
We ate at The Vortex for La's last meal in the ATL. It's truly an experience in itself.
SO. MUCH. FUN!!
I ♥ my bestie!!
